Haryana has approved a ₹1,122 crore agriculture action plan under the Rashtriya Krishi Vikas Yojana (PM-RKVY), marking a significant step toward enhancing farm productivity, promoting diversification and strengthening rural incomes.
The plan is designed to support a range of interventions including crop diversification, adoption of modern agricultural technologies, efficient irrigation systems, and improved input management.
Officials indicated that the initiative aims to reduce dependency on water-intensive crops while encouraging farmers to shift toward high-value and sustainable cropping patterns, aligned with evolving market demands and environmental considerations.
The action plan also focuses on strengthening agricultural infrastructure, enhancing extension services, and building farmer capacity through training and awareness programmes.
Haryana, a key contributor to India’s food grain production, has been actively working to address challenges such as groundwater depletion, soil degradation, and rising input costs. The approved plan seeks to address these issues through a balanced approach combining productivity with sustainability.
The investment under PM-RKVY reflects the Centre-State coordinated effort to accelerate agricultural growth, improve farm incomes and build resilience in the sector.
With a strong emphasis on technology adoption and resource efficiency, the initiative is expected to play a crucial role in shaping Haryana’s agricultural landscape in the coming years.
