Agartala: Tripura’s organic farmers and producer organisations got a direct opportunity to connect with international buyers as the Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA), along with the Government of Tripura, organised an International Organic Buyer-Seller Meet in Agartala.
The event brought together around 200 participants, including more than 20 international buyers from Australia, New Zealand, Germany, Italy, Greece and Argentina, along with 27 exporters, 96 farmers representing 22 FPOs/FPCs and government officials.
The meet was organised by APEDA under the Ministry of Commerce & Industry in collaboration with the Tripura State Organic Farming Development Agency (TSOFDA) and the Department of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, Government of Tripura.
The event showcased the range of organic and naturally produced products from the state through 12 dedicated stalls.
Among the products showcased were Queen Pineapple, GI-tagged Kalikhasa Rice, organic ginger and turmeric, black sesame, jackfruit and scented lemon, giving international buyers an opportunity to interact directly with farmers and producer organisations.
Discussions during the meet focused on sourcing opportunities, international market requirements and potential long-term business partnerships.
The buyer-seller meet was aimed at strengthening direct connections between Tripura's farmers, FPOs, exporters and overseas buyers.
Agriculture Minister of Tripura Shri Ratan Lal Nath said the state's farmers are producing quality organic products with potential in both domestic and international markets. He emphasised that connecting farmers and FPOs directly with global buyers can open new avenues for market access and improve farm incomes.
The minister also assured continued support from the state government for initiatives aimed at strengthening organic farming and helping farmers benefit from emerging global opportunities.
Organic farmers were also felicitated during the event for their contribution to Tripura's organic agriculture movement and sustainable agricultural value chains.
APEDA continues to work with state governments, FPOs, exporters and other stakeholders to expand India's organic export ecosystem.
Its efforts include certification support, capacity building, infrastructure development, market promotion and connecting Indian producers with international buyers.
The Tripura initiative is part of these efforts to expand the global presence of India's organic products while creating new and sustainable market opportunities for farmers, particularly across the North Eastern Region.
