LUDHIANA: In a bid to keep ‘agripreneurs’ updated with government’s various schemes, Punjab Agricultural Management and Extension Training Institute (Pameti) organised a training programme on “Awareness about RKVY and MGNREGA” here on Tuesday.
Around 30 extension officials from state agriculture and allied departments and Agriculture Technology Management Agency (ATMA) attended the programme.
Human resource management deputy director Rupinder Kaur said the objective of the programme is to create awareness among extension officials about Rashtriya Krishi Vikas Yojana – Remunerative Approaches for the Agriculture and Allied Sectors Rejuvenation (RKVY-RAFTAAR) and Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA), so that holistic development of agricultural sector may be achieved.
Pameti director H S Dhaliwal said RKVY-RAFTAAR is an umbrella scheme of the central government, which is aimed at transforming farming as a remunerative economic activity through promoting agripreneurship and agribusiness by facilitating financial aid and nurturing a system of business incubation.
