    Over 400 farmers undergo capacity building training

     Trichy: The agriculture department has organised a  capacity building training for director designates of Farmer Producers Company. More than 400 progressive farmers from across the seven zones falling in the districts including Trichy, Ariyalur and Pudukottai participated in the programme.


    The state government’s new initiative to help small and marginal farmers by promoting collective farming, after establishing  Farmers Producers Organisation and Farmers Producers Company across delta districts, has gained momentum. In accordance to it, the agriculture department in Trichy organised a meeting to impart training to the office bearers.

    Board of directors and office bearers of the FPO have to be sensitised at least once in a year on the functioning of FOPs, organisational structure, business operation and management, market linkages, legal aspects of FPO, regulatory compliance good governance practice, transparency and accountability, vision building leadership development. 

    Atraining session was conducted where more than 400 progressive farmers participated. Subsequently, the entire participants were segregated into four groups and a brainstorming session was also conducted by agriculture officials.

    During the session, the difficulties faced by the functionaries of FPO and FPCs with regard to the machinery purchased a few months ago for their company and other related issued were discussed. Concerned officials gave them guidelines and answered their queries. Joint director of agriculture K Balraj, deputy director of agriculture (farmers training centre) R Ravi and other officials from agriculture department participated in the programme.
