The Rajasthan government had announced in its budget to provide mobile phones to women under the Digital India scheme. It is now being embodied. The government is giving free mobiles to women from June 2022.
According to media reports, the Department of Information Technology and Mass Communication has prepared a draft for the free smartphone distribution scheme.
The tender will be issued this week. Under the Digital India scheme, these smartphones will be given to the female head of the 1.33 crore Chiranjeevi family of the state. Sandesh Nayak, the commissioner of the information technology and communication department, says that according to the budget announcement, smartphones and the internet will be made available to women.
Smartphones will have free internet connectivity and free calling for three years. However, you will only get 5 to 10 GB of internet data per month. This data can also be extended after the tender is finalized.
According to the information, the smartphones will be made in India and will have a 5.5-inch display. The phone will have at least a quad-core 1.2- 1.6 GHz processor, 2 GB RAM, 32 GB memory, 3200 mAh battery, dual SIM, and at least an 8-megapixel camera. Applications of the state government's flagship schemes will be pre-installed in it. Through this, women will be able to get information about the schemes of the government.
Let it be known that the previous government had also distributed mobile phones to more than 40 lakh people. They were keypad phones.
