BJP's national spokesperson and Rajya Sabha MP Zafar Islam attacked the Congress and the JMM over the Agriculture laws and said that those who do not have any links with the farmers can never be their well-wishers. Addressing a press conference at the state BJP headquarters on Sunday he accused the Congress party and its allies are just misleading the farmers who have already understood the truth.
He said that earlier the middlemen use to take away the hard-earned money of the farmers and the new laws would help to check that and it was due to this very reason the Congress was getting stomach aches. He accused the Congress party of protecting the middlemen. Zafar Islam said that Congress has an eye on the food grains than the looking at the welfare of the farmers. He said that following the recommendations of the Swaminathan Commission the MSP has been increased by one and a half times. He said that the Agriculture laws would help to double the income of the farmers by 2022. The BJP leader said that contract farming would be for crops and not the land. He said that to double the income of the farmers FPO is being formed under which a sum of Rs 8,000 crore would be spent.
