On the occasion of World Science Day for Peace and Development (#ScienceDay, #UNESCO), the ICAR-All India Coordinated Research Project on Soil Test Crop Response (STCR), ICAR-Indian Institute of Soil Science, Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh organized a "Virtual Conference on Developing Human Resources for Recalibrating STCR" today.
The Chief Guest Dr. M. Velayutham, Former Director, ICAR-NBSS&LUP urged for saturating the gospel of soil testing as a household word amidst the farming community to realise the triple goals of higher productivity, profitability and fertilizer use efficiency until the last mile of the farm in the country.
Dr. A.K. Patra, Director, ICAR-Indian Institute of Soil Science, Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh advocated for enhancing the fertilizer use efficiency through STCR approach with the technical collaboration and support to the NARES members.
Dr. A. Subba Rao, Former Director, ICAR-Indian Institute of Soil Science, Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh stressed on the need for consolidation of the gains from the theoretical concept given by Dr. Ramamoorty in computation of the fertilizer recommendations under the targeted yield concept.
In her address, Dr. R. Santhi, Director (NRM), TNAU, Coimbatore outlined about the need for adopting the STCR-IPNS based fertilizers prescriptions to achieve the desired yield with higher benefit cost ratio.
Dr. Shantanu Kar, Deputy Manager, Coromandel International Limited also participated in the programme.
The Virtual Conference provided an open and inclusive space for dialogue between the different stakeholders for exploring the critical pathways and systemic solutions besides, development of Human Resource of ICAR-AICRP on STCR.
